This Final Report summarizes the presentations and findings presented at WEDO’s Gender & Climate Change Workshop in Dakar, Senegal, in June 2008.  Case studies of Senegal, Ghana, Nepal and Trinidad were presented.

Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with support from the Global Fund for Women (GFW), hosted the workshop, bringing together government and UN representatives, civil society and gender experts in order to:

a) Contribute to country-specific needs assessments on gender and climate change;

b) Identify policy options and outline advocacy strategies; and

c) Determine action recommendations for governments and civil society to incorporate women’s participation and a gender perspective into their national climate change adaptation plans.
