NEW YORK (April 18, 2012) — On March 5th, during CSW56, WEDO was pleased to participate in a “Learning Circle on Gender and Climate Change”, co-sponsored by the GGCA and the NGO CSW Forum 2012.

This is a final report from the event including summaries from each of the key areas of discussion: Mitigation, Adaptation, Advocacy, Finance, Disaster Risk reduction, Grassroots community strategies, and Health and food and nutrition security. Some of the key issues raised include

  • land rights of women especially in Africa
  • holistic approaches to development – focusing on women empowerment, capacity building, and women’s social economic advancement
  • inclusion of men in gender discussions
  • environmental knowledge patterns of women
