WEDO co-organized the session, What We Feminists Need to Know about Climate Finance, on September 10 during AWID 2016 International Form.
We hope to create discussion and conversations about how the Green Climate Fund would reach communities in the frontline of a changing climate, as well as women’s voice and leadership play a significant part in the Green Climate Fund’s decision making process so that this money will be most effectively spent.
The Green Climate Fund is guided by the principles and provisions of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Given the urgency and seriousness of this challenge, the Fund is mandated to make an ambitious contribution to the united global response to climate change.
The Green Climate Fund’s aim is to be the largest climate finance fund by 2020, mobilizing and spending$100 billion USD a year on climate adaptation and mitigation projects in developing countries.
