Dear Friends,

We have much to be grateful for and celebrate in 2010! Topping the list:

  • After more than two years of targeted advocacy with a wide range of partners, WEDO contributed to securing eight references to women and gender equality in the UN Cancun Agreements on climate change;
  • UN Women, the new cohesive UN agency to advance women’s rights, was launched after years of dedicated lobbying by the GEAR Campaign, including WEDO and hundreds of other women’s organizations;
  • We conducted trainings, workshops and research on gender and sustainable development issues, particularly climate change, in four regions of the world; and
  • WEDO was recognized for groundbreaking and innovative advocacy on gender equality and sustainable development by the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW).
