Over the past few months, WEDO has been working closely with Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) and the International Network of Women’s Funds (INWF) to co-organize one of the core sessions for the 2016 Women Deliver Conference.
This is Women Deliver’s 4th Global Conference, taking place May 16-19th in Copenhagen, Denmark and it will be the largest gathering on girls’ and women’s health and rights in the last decade. The conference will bring together leaders, policymakers, advocates, activists, and media from all over the world to discuss a wide range of topics including environment and climate change. The overarching focus areas will be on the effective implementation of SDGs, sharing solutions, and engaging young leaders.
WEDO, GGF and INWF have been coordinating the Environment & Climate Change Adaptation, Resilience & Education thematic cluster which will also include three concurrent sessions:
- Investing in Girls and Women to Combat Climate Change
- Women Defending Environmental Human Rights
- Female Voices from the Frontlines of Climate Change
Each session has been designed to highlight diverse perspectives as well as engage the audience and participants. Guest speakers include individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds including government, policy, finance, education, and advocacy. Our hope is that the sessions will lead to fruitful discussions on the importance of including the perspectives of women and girls in all environment and climate change work. More importantly, we hope that the sessions will allow individual to share solutions to the issues women and girls are facing in relation to climate change adaptation, resilience, and access to environmental education.
