PARIS, France (Dec. 7, 2015) – WEDO participated in an interactive action to demonstrate the need for a fair and ambitious agreement and the consequences of removing rights language from the purpose of the climate agreement.

The action demonstrated how all elements of the solidarity package: rights of indigenous peoples, gender equality and the full and equal participation of women, intergenerational equity, a just transition of the workforce that creates decent work and quality jobs, ecosystem integrity and resilience, and food security are linked to the overall goals of an ambitious Paris agreement. If one of the key elements is taken away, the entire purpose of the agreement breaks apart.
