Celebration of Women’s Leadership in Sustainable Development

June 20, 5:00-7:00pm

Rio Conventions Pavilion, Rio de Janiero, Brazil

In the last ten years, many women leaders have sparked significant progress in ensuring sustainable development policy is gender responsive. From combatting the climate crisis to eradicating poverty, women’s leadership has been transformative at multiple levels. This special event will celebrate some of these women leaders with a ceremony to showcase the important advancements these women spearheaded.

Drinks and light fare will be served.

Award recipients – This celebration will be in memory of Marie Khan of the CBD Secretariat. We will award 10 women leaders for their leadership roles over the last 10 years. Awardees will represent diverse regions as well as levels of engagement, bringing voices together from the grassroots and highest national and international political levels. Invitees – The celebration will bring together over 100 “friends” of the co-hosts and award recipients, including high-level gender stewards and media representatives.
