Women on the Road to Rio+20

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 13-22 June 2012

Rio+20 is an opportunity for women around the world to come together in shaping the future we want!

From June 20th – 22nd, 2012, less than 100 days from today, the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20, will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. World leaders will be gathered- with hopes and plans for securing a sustainable future.

The Women’s Major Group aims to advocate for an outcome which represents the diversity of women’s views and perspectives and which solidifies the central importance of achieving gender equality to secure a sustainable future.

In order to do that, we need to hear from YOU!

First round of ‘informal-informal’ negotiations on the zero draft of outcome document

Governments and civil society will gather over the next two weeks for a series of informal negotiations to work on the zero draft of the outcome document for Rio+20. The Women’s Major Group will be following the proceedings very closely and advocating to ensure that human rights and women’s rights are a cornerstone of all agreements in Rio+20.
