New York, April 18th 2011- The Steering Committee of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) takes great pleasure in introducing Nathalie Eddy as GGCA’s new Coordinator. Nathalie started on April 1 and has hit the ground running with top priorities to revitalize activities of GGCA members and lead in the process of setting strategic goals and establishing a sustainable funding base to support the GGCA’s work.

Nathalie started working on international climate policy over 15 years ago.  She worked for the UNFCCC on CDM / JI issues (back when it was AIJ), coordinated USCAN for several years, and helped launch an initiative to bring the first indigenous peoples delegation to the UNFCCC negotiations.  Nathalie focused much of her climate work on public participation and transparency issues, which led to her position with WRI serving as Senior Associate with The Access Initiative (TAI).  Nathalie conducted research and led trainings on environmental governance, working primarily in Africa and South Asia, and facilitating trainings worldwide.

She is an attorney by training, and most recently worked for the State of Colorado, clerking for a judge and then serving as an Assistant Attorney General working on air law (including drafting new state GHG regulations).  She earned her D.E.S.S. in environmental law from the Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, France, and her J.D. focusing on international law and human rights from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  She speaks French and some “survival” Spanish.  She now lives in Colorado with her husband and 2 children, spending as much time as possible outside in the sun or snow (or both).

We are excited that Nathalie’s climate change background brings to the GGCA years of international network coordination and public participation experience.  The Steering Committee will work closely with Nathalie during these initial months of transition.  Please join us in welcoming Nathalie!
