Dear Friends,
We have much to be grateful for and celebrate in 2010! Topping the list:
- After more than two years of targeted advocacy with a wide range of partners, WEDO contributed to securing eight references to women and gender equality in the UN Cancun Agreements on climate change;
- UN Women, the new cohesive UN agency to advance women’s rights, was launched after years of dedicated lobbying by the GEAR Campaign, including WEDO and hundreds of other women’s organizations;
- We conducted trainings, workshops and research on gender and sustainable development issues, particularly climate change, in four regions of the world; and
- WEDO was recognized for groundbreaking and innovative advocacy on gender equality and sustainable development by the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW).
All of this and more was achieved thanks to a wide range of partnerships and supporters – including you!
