Launch of the COP 17 / CMP 7 Presidency Legacy publication Thuto Ya Batho Women and Climate Change.The publication is an initiative of the COP 17 President, Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa. It focuses on women’s critical role in building resilience to climate change and aims to inspire to action to unlock the potential of women to adapt to climate change. View Invitiation >>

GenderCC, GGCA, Life and WEDO will organize an event called Gender and Climate Innovation: Breakthrough changes for gender equality. This collaborative gender event seeks bring about innovative ideas for change, with a special focus on inclusiveness and diversity, and on finance for low-carbon, climate-resilient and gender-equitable development objectives.

Gender and Climate: Moving beyond the Rhetoric is hosted UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres and brings together influential women from different sectors of society with the goal of exchanging views on the vital role that women play in mobilizing for change in the sustainable development arena. The event will be filmed, edited and broadcast on Climate Change TV. The speakers of the event include Her Highness Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani,Chairperson of the Board of Trustees – Qatar Museums Authority, Ms. Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland, President, Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, Ms. Julia Duncan-Cassell, Minister for Gender and Development of Liberia, Ms. Elena Manaenkova, WMO Assistant Secretary General, Ms. Julia Marton-Lefèvre, IUCN Director-General, Ms. Nawal Al-Hosany, Director of Sustainability, Masdar and Ms. Changhua Wu, the Greater China Director of the Climate Group.

The UNFCCC secretariat is also organizing the “Climate Change Studio” – a platform that provides an opportunity for participants to be interviewed briefly by a professional journalist on actions, solutions, observations and issues that impact on climate change. All interviews are filmed, edited and made available on the UNFCCC website as well as on Climate Change TV. The studio is reserved on the 27 November for interviews under the Gender theme.
