WEDO is proud to be a part of a powerful collective of women’s rights, feminist and climate justice organizations who make up the Coalition for a Feminist Green New Deal, launched in 2019. On April 24th and 29th, the Coalition hosted two online dialogues set for Earth Week 2020, focusing on “Resilience & a Just Recovery through a Feminist Green New Deal” in this moment of intersecting crises.
In the face of COVID-19, the interconnected crises of our economy, health and the planet demand an intersectional analysis of systemic root causes and feminist solutions. We know that these feminist Principles are key to a just recovery, and that a feminist approach demands coalitional and collective response.
In the first dialogue, WEDO’s Mara Dolan was in conversation with other coalition members, including from Southwest Organizing Project & Grassroots Global Justice, the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network, the Sierra Club, and activist academics & musicians.
In the second dialogue, hosted through the Women’s March, WEDO’s Bridget Burns joined representatives from the Giniw Collective, the NAACP Environment and Climate Justice Program, the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network, Grassroots Global Justice, and MADRE.
