Debora Leao first gained experience on UNFCCC climate negotiations during Rio+20. She is the co-founder of a local committee to engage students in the debates of Rio+20 including taking the lead on organizing events and debates for young people on themes related to the environment and sustainability. In 2013, she interned at the Brazilian Mission to the UN in the 2nd Committee working with the General Assembly on discussions related to sustainable development. During this time, her main responsibility was following the pre-COP19 negotiations. Shortly after her time with the Brazilian Mission, Debora founded Engajamundo, an organization dedicated to empowering youth to participate in international processes. Engajamundo works closely with the Working Group on Gender (CSW) and now with Habitat III. At the local level, Debora has facilitated several workshops and trainings and is engaged national networks dedicated to promoting youth and women empowerment.
