As a member of the Indigenous People’s Caucus Edna Kaptoyo has worked extensively in capacity building and awareness raising on climate change and gender among policy makers at the country level especially on the need for gender sensitive climate change project planning and budgeting in UNFCC meetings. Some examples of her initiatives include water catchment restoration by indigenous women and documenting best adaption practice in indigenous communities. Edna is also a member of the national gender and climate change working group in Kenya. A group of like minded individuals and organizations working on issues of climate change and gender and support capacity building initiatives for government authorities to engender their programs.
