On the occasion of the fifty-ninth meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59), which will examine the success and gaps of the past twenty years of implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, as well as key aspects of the post-2015 development agenda unfolding, IUCN Global Gender Office (GGO) in collaboration with UN Women and Governments of Finland, Peru and Liberia, will organize an event on the transformative power of data, featuring the unique Environment and Gender Index (EGI).
This high-level event on the opening day of CSW, “The Environment and Gender Index: Measuring Success toward an Equitable Future,” will feature the latest work from the EGI—newest datasets including indicators on women and decision-making in the environmental sector—thanks to the support and partnership from UN Women.
WEDO’s Bridget Burns will speak on this high level panel, highlighting the work of the Women Delegates Fund (WDF) and highlighting some of the biggest hurdles and needs for ensuring implementation of commitments on gender.
