New York– From January 24-26, 2011 UN Women is holding its first Executive Board Meeting.  Click here to read the GEAR Campaign Statement made at the meeting this afternoon.

The statement calls for an increase in financial commitments from countries, further mechanisms for enhanced civil society participation, and strengthened integration of gender equality and the empowerment of women across all UN entities.

On Monday, Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet gave a speech to the Executive Board, outlining the Vision and Action Plan for the first 100 Days of UN Women.
