“From a climate justice perspective, addressing the root causes of the climate crisis also requires tackling social inequalities and eradicating forms of oppression that movements can also reproduce, including gender inequalities. This includes honoring the fact that the frontlines inhabited by women around the world are not just lines of crisis, but also frontlines of change.” –Majandra Rodriguez Acha, Peru
It is increasingly clear that reverting this catastrophic climate crisis requires a deep systemic change to our economic, political and social structures along with the promotion of climate and environmental justice that places people and planet at the core.
So what is the solution? What is OUR solution?

Climate Justice Storytelling
Alongside the release of this animation, WEDO has started a new ‘Climate Justice Storytelling Project’, and we are happy to bring you the first batch of stories by four courageous reSisters: Adi Vasulevu M Levu; Tarcila Rivera Zea; Patricia Ardón; and Azeb Girmai sharing in their own words what climate and environmental injustice look like for them, and their feminist visions for a healthy planet.
Visualizing Our Visions
Building off of years of feminist discourse, including at the 2016 AWID Feminist Forum, this animation incorporates and elevates feminist alternative solutions to climate and environmental justice which encapsulate the link between gender justice, economic justice and environmental and climate justice. It is symbolic of the tireless work employed by women around the world to mitigate, adapt to, and resist climate and environmental injustice and the systems that contribute to their ruthless grasp on our environment.
