LIMA, PERU (December 1, 2014)— WEDO had a full weekend of advocacy activities prior to the start of COP20.

From the 29-30 November, in partnership with the Women and Gender Constituency, WEDO hosted a two-day advocacy skills and strategy session for women’s human rights and gender equality activists participating in COP20.

This two-day workshop aimed to equip gender and human rights advocates attending COP20 with key skills and knowledge to be effective agents for change in the UNFCCC process, as well as to support development of key strategies for members of the Women and Gender Constituency to work together over the course of the two weeks, while looking forward to COP21 in Paris.

Gender and Climate Change Knowledge Sharing at the Conference of Youth (COY10)

As part of a broad outreach across constituencies to promote a gender-inclusive and socially just climate agreement, WEDO and Equidad de Genero (Equidad) hosted a two-part workshop at the Conference of Youth. The knowledge-sharing session focused on the use of gender as a lens in climate policy and how women and youth can be dynamic actors on rights-based mitigation and adaptation. The skills-sharing session showcased the joint experience of WEDO and Equidad in advocating for human rights and gender equality, as a way to demonstrate how social justice issues can be included in the UNFCCC, as well as how youth and the WGC can work together to advocate for a strong and just COP20 outcome.
