The theme of the upcoming fifty-sixth session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is the Empowerment of Rural Women. Taking place from February 27th to March 9th 2012 at the United Nations Headquarters, the CSW56 will focus on the role of women in poverty and hunger eradication, development, and global challenges such as climate change. Participants will examine financing for gender equality and the empowerment of women.
