New York, April 23–WEDO just returned from the first climate change negotiating session of 2009, which took place 29 March – 8 April, in Bonn, Germany. WEDO and Energia coordinate a team of gender advocates who participate in each negotiating meeting, representing the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA). Find the Team’s position paper and Submission to the negotiations here. The year’s negotiations stated off well—with numerous countries from different regions calling for the urgent inclusion of social issues, including gender! Moreover, political will is palpable, and Parties are committed to finalizing negotiations by December in Copenhagen.
