Right now, our priority is simple: to be in the spaces where feminist community can deepen, strategies can sharpen, and collective power can grow. 

WEDO is engaging around Women Deliver 2026 for the opportunity to connect across movements, places, and generations. We are showing up to build relationships, exchange ideas, and move forward together, wherever those conversations are happening. 

At the same time, we are holding the complexity of gathering in a space that is not accessible to everyone. Many are navigating violence at borders, displacement, and war. There is real privilege in having the resources to come together in this way. The ability to convene, while others are denied safety or passage, is not lost on us, and we aim to engage in these moments with intention, accountability, and a commitment to collective action. 

This year’s conference is hosted in the Oceanic Pacific region, and that matters. For WEDO, being part of Women Deliver 2026 is an opportunity to strengthen our connections with women leaders and Indigenous women from a region that has long borne the harshest impacts of the climate crisis. Too often, their leadership, knowledge, and solutions are left out of global policy conversations.

WEDO has worked with Pacific networks for years. Since COP is not happening in Australia this year, we will use this time to strengthen those relationships, listen closely to what communities in the region are building and asking for, and make sure the feminist climate justice agenda we bring to global spaces truly reflects their realities and leadership.

Pacific voices bring important knowledge, ways of governing, and visions of care that must be central, not just an add-on, to any just transition. We are here to learn, to amplify, and to build together.

Our focus in Melbourne

WEDO's engagement at Women Deliver 2026 is oriented around three areas that sit at the heart of our work:

1. Gender data as a tool for justice. Through the Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA), WEDO works to make sure that timely, accurate, and inclusive data guide global efforts to build gender-transformative and climate-resilient futures. We will explore how data can drive more gender-just climate and development action.
2. Care as climate infrastructure. A just transition and all climate action must put care at the center. This includes the unpaid work mostly done by women, the care systems that communities rely on, and the systemic shifts needed to divest from harm globally and reimagine alternative models centered on care. We are bringing this conversation to Melbourne as part of our ongoing work.
3. Building the coalitions we need. We can only change the global order by working together. That is why WEDO invests in creating and supporting spaces where movements come together, like GEDA, the Gender Just Climate Solutions Scale Fund (GJCS), the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC), and the Women's Major Group (WMG), among others. Women Deliver is a chance to grow these networks, welcome new partners, and build the alliances needed for collective strategy.

Real transformation means facing what is unjust, imagining something better, building the coalitions to achieve it, and doing the ongoing work to keep movements strong and well-resourced.

That is the work WEDO is committed to. We know gatherings like this are not perfect, since no meeting can be. But in a time marked by backlash and extraction, it is necessary and powerful for feminists from around the world to come together in the same room and insist on a different future.

• Mwanahamisi (Mishy) Singano, Director of Policy, [email protected]: Mishy serves as the Global Co-Focal Point of the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) at the UNFCCC and Global Co-Convenor of the Women’s Stakeholder Group at UNDRR. She will speak as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction ActionAid session.

• Hira Amjad, Executive Director, DASTAK Foundation: Hira Amjad is an award-winning gender, climate, and peace leader from Pakistan. She is the Founder and Executive Director of DASTAK Women Rights and Awareness Foundation (DASTAK Foundation) and Cora Weiss Fellow at the Global Network for Women Peacebuilders. Hira will be participating as a part of GEDA and working to advance advocacy on SRHR, health, and climate. 

Where WEDO Is Engaging

• PRECONFERENCE: From Training to #Trending: A Hands-On Day of Inclusive Data, 26 April, 9:00–17:00: On behalf of GEDA, Jay will facilitate a breakout session on “Consultation on iCount coalition campaign (how do we secure inclusive data as a key element of the post 2030 agenda)”.
• PRECONFERENCE: Roots & Rising: Grounding the Feminist Climate Justice Movement, 27 April, 8:30–14:00: Team WEDO will engage to share information on global network building and advocacy for gender and climate justice. 
• Feminist research to build and redesign climate action in development practice, 28 April, 12:00–13:30, Meeting Room 204, Level 2: The event brings together six Australian-supported research partners, funded through DFAT’s Climate Resilient Communities program, which WEDO and GEDA are partners of, and the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), to share findings and emerging insights from across Asia Pacific on gender equality and climate change.
• Centering Care in Gender-Transformative Climate Action, 29 April from 12:00–13:30 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Room 217: Alex Gordon will facilitate a conversation with panelists from Global Greengrants Fund, MenEngage Alliance, Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change, and HERA on grassroots and Global South-led solutions to the climate crisis that are rooted in care and challenging harmful gender norms.
• Reclaiming Power and Transforming Lives: Inclusive Data as a Tool for Resistance and Disruption, 29 April, 16:00–17:30, Room 110: This session aims to position inclusive data as the foundation of a more intentional, responsible, and decolonized approach to knowledge that drives a fair and equitable data and political ecosystem. GEDA members Sharon Inone (Greenergy Pacific) and Hira Amjad (DASTAK Foundation) will speak at the event, moderated by Jay.
• Designing the gender-climate package for COP31 and beyond, 29 April, 18:00–19:30, Room 104: This roundtable will convene civil society, governments, multilateral funds, companies, philanthropies, and NGOs to collectively outline a “package” of priorities and proposals to advance gender-responsive climate finance and resourcing ahead of COP31 and key related fora in 2026 — with a view to COP32 and COP33 as well.
• Care/Climate Financing Conversation, 30 April, 17:00–17:15 at Care and Climate Pavilion by IDRC: The session will convene researchers, feminist organizations, grassroots movements, international organizations, governments, and climate finance innovators to share evidence, lived experiences, and policy pathways that place care systems at the heart of resilient and equitable futures.

• Feminist Just Transitions Roundtable, Registration, Friday, 1 May, 9:30–17:00: Join  Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA) and partners for a one-day roundtable bringing together Australian and global leaders working at the forefront of climate, equity, and systems change. WEDO's Bridget Burns will open the session. 
• Gender, Climate & Disaster Risk Roundtable (Private event), Friday, 1 May, 9:00–17:00: Co-hosted by ActionAid, WEDO, and Duryog Nivaran.
