New York, February 23–Women from all regions of the world will converge at the United Nations for the fifty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which will be held next week March 2-13th.

On March 3, WEDO will co-sponsor a panel on Climate Change. Other co-sponsors of the event are the Center for Asia Women in Politics, Denmark, the Global Gender and Climate Alliance, the International Alliance of Women and the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

Moderated by Winnie Byanyima, Director, UNDP Gender Team, speakers will address a number of issues including gender in climate change negotiations, this year’s climate change meeting in Copenhagen and what to expect from the Obama Administration on climate change. The event will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the UN in the Dag Hammarskjold Library Auditorium.
