From September 18–21, 2025, in Brazil, the Guardians of the Earth gathering brought together climate defenders and activists from across Latin America to align visions, exchange strategies, and strengthen the leadership of women who protect the planet and the people who live on it.

Together, we renewed the spirit of collaboration and struggle that gave birth to WEDO more than 30 years ago, inspired by activists such as Bella Abzug, Wangari Maathai, Vandana Shiva, and Thais Corral.

This event was part of a global call to action proposed by the Women and Gender Constituency to create a powerful wave of resistance against backlashes on women’s rights and on climate, racial, and gender justice.

The gathering was organized by the Instituto Sinal do Vale, WEDO (Women’s Environment and Development Organization), and REDEH (Human Development Network).
