Explore our COP31 priorities, key events and feminist advocacy to advance a just transition from extraction to care.
From extraction to care. From commitments to implementation.
As governments gather in Antalya, Türkiye, for COP31, WEDO is bringing a clear message: implementation is a political choice.
At a time of accelerating climate impacts, growing inequality and mounting pressure on international cooperation, delivering climate justice requires more than technical solutions and new commitments. It requires political accountability, meaningful investment in people and communities, and transformation of the systems driving the climate crisis.
Throughout COP31, WEDO will support feminist advocacy through the Women and Gender Constituency, strengthen women's leadership through the Women Delegates Fund, and convene partners around the implementation of the Belém Gender Action Plan. We will also bring insights from our Global Feminist Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Istanbul into the negotiations.

WEDO’s COP31 Overview sets out our feminist climate justice priorities for Antalya, from implementing the Belém Gender Action Plan and shaping a just transition to advancing resilience and climate finance. It brings together key negotiating demands, events, delegation highlights and resources to support collective advocacy and action.

Our Priorities
Turning the hard-won commitments of the nine-year Gender Action Plan into national policies, resources, meaningful participation and accountability.
Advancing a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels that centers human rights, care, economic justice and democratic control of energy systems.
Building stronger connections across adaptation, health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and disaster risk reduction, with feminist leadership and locally led solutions at the center.
Challenging the retreat from international obligations and advocating for accessible, public, grant-based finance and a renewed commitment to international solidarity.
SPOTLIGHT

Women's Land Rights and Climate Action
While the Belém Gender Action Plan creates an important opportunity to examine the intersecting impacts of gender and climate change, it does not explicitly reference women's land rights or land tenure. This is a significant gap. Women's access to, control over, and security of land are fundamental to their livelihoods, economic autonomy, food security, and capacity to adapt to climate change. Insecure land tenure can also expose women and communities to displacement, dispossession, and further inequalities through land-based climate interventions. WEDO is working to ensure that women's land rights become a more visible and integral part of gender-responsive climate action. Through collaboration with the Women's Land Rights Initiative, the Women and Gender Constituency, and land rights advocates, we aim to strengthen the inclusion of land rights and tenure in national assessments under the Belém GAP. At COP31, WEDO will convene partners to build stronger connections between women's land rights and climate justice movements, with the goal of translating national evidence into coordinated advocacy at SB66 and toward COP32.
