Leadership & Representation
Ensuring those closest to the issues can shape the policies that govern their futures.

Overview
We expand access to global decision-making by supporting women and gender-diverse people, including grassroots and Indigenous women, young leaders, and frontline communities, to participate fully in environmental and climate governance.
Through negotiation training, mentorship, technical preparation, and direct support, we help equip leaders with the tools needed to influence policy.
Why Leadership & Representation Matters
Environmental crises disproportionately impact communities that often have the least representation in global governance. Barriers, from financial to political, keep many people from participating, weakening the quality and justice of global outcomes. When representation shifts, so do the decisions.
What We Do
Through our Leadership & Representation work, we:
- Provide training on climate diplomacy, negotiation skills, and policy literacy
- Offer mentorship, coaching, and peer-support networks
- Support travel, visas, and logistics to increase participation
- Work with governments to build more inclusive delegations
- Create long-term leadership pipelines within global movements
Work to Date
Highlights of our Leadership & Representation work include:
- The Women Delegates Fund, which provides training, travel support, and ongoing mentorship and negotiation workshops for new government delegates
- Leadership development and capacity strengthening within the Women & Gender Constituency (WGC) and other coalitions
- Support to the regionalization processes of the WGC, Women's Major Group and other coalitions
